Stories are powerful—especially the stories we hear over and over and over again. Whether these words were born from within or were thrust upon us from the outside, these words bear weight ,and over time, begin to define who we think we are and what we think we’re capable of. They become our truths, whether we want them to be or not.

In this worksop, we’ll explore the power our stories hold over us and how they shape our future through the habits we form to fit into their molds. We’ll dig into our own stories, unraveling how they’re holding us back from our full potential. Then we’ll see how the same philosophies can expand our impact as researchers, designers, and leaders.

Key Takeaways:

  • Learn how we subconsciously dig ourselves into ruts

  • Identify key stories and habits limiting our potential

  • Discover opportunities to rewire our brain

  • Explore the impact this has on our work in UX

About Your Facilitator

Why are you teaching at RAD Summit?

“We talk a lot about work/life balance as if those two things are completely separate, but they are not mutually exclusive. Everything is connected and requires our attention and investment across the board before we can flourish in any area of our lives. I love that RAD Summit is all about giving us tools that can bridge these areas allowing us to find that connection between the different parts of ourselves.”

What’s your craziest camping or outdoor experience?

“Hiking the Inca Trail in Peru. On the second day we had to summit an almost 14er in the near freezing rain and then descend down drenched slippery granite stairs to make it to camp. I have never been so miserable or tired, but it’s still one of the best experiences I’ve ever had!”
